On Shrove Tuesday, Malbroeck is burned. This immediately marks the end of Carnival. Beforehand, a cart play is always performed by De Ghesellen. Malbroeck represents the hated Duke of Marlborough who fought in our regions in the 18th century and thus acquired a bad reputation.
